Disney INFINITY takes gameplay to the next level....
Every now and then a toy or videogame comes along that goes light-years beyond anything we’ve played before. It may be inspired by previous toys and games, but it brings something completely new to the mix, pushing the play experience to levels we never believed were possible.
A place where YOU are the most important ingredient in any play session. A world which is driven by your imagination, with infinite possibilities and endless fun. Game Guru has seen the future of ‘play’ and it is called Disney Infinity!
What exactly is Disney INFINITY?
Technically, Disney Infinity is a videogame, but it’s oh, so much more than that. It’s an inspired mix of toy and game that has just the right amount of awesome-sauce to totally blow you away! Guru’s been playing kids games for over a decade and there’s been nothing even close to what Disney Infinity has to offer.
There are many different aspects to Infinity. There are collectible character figures and high-tech gadgety devices, but at its heart, Infinity is a platform, a game-maker and a virtual toy box all-in-one!
It even has an element of collector cards to it, with power discs that enhance and extend your gameplay experience, which are designed to be swapped and shared between you and your friends. And that’s one of the best parts of the Disney Infinity experience: you can play alone, but it gets stacks better when you add family and friends.
How does Disney Infinity work?
There are several parts to the hardware and software in Disney Infinity that come together to make it such an awesome experience. The Disney Infinity Base is the interface which allows players to add character figures, power discs, and play set pieces to the game.
Once these ‘real world’ pieces are placed on the Disney Infinity Base, they work their special magic and the characters, specific play set adventures, cool environmental enhancements, new abilities, vehicles, and gadgets appear in the virtual world of the game itself!
Who are the characters you’ll meet?
You begin your Disney Infinity adventure by purchasing the Starter Pack, which contains the base, a trio of character figures (Sulley, Mr Incredible, and Captain Jack Sparrow) and three play sets (Monsters University, The Incredibles and Pirates of the Caribbean). And you get a power disc, and a web code card to unlock cool stuff online.
Within each of the play sets there are also a slew of themed characters that you’ll meet during your many adventures. And, at launch, there will be new play sets and a bunch of character figures which can be purchased separately, adding even more characters into the mix…
What are Play Sets?
Play Sets are an original, story-driven adventure based on one of Disney’s worlds. You can play them as any character that matches that world. More play sets and character figures based on Disney properties will be released over time. (High on Guru’s wish list for the future are play sets and character figures based on Tron, Marvel and Star Wars--hint, hint!)
What can I do in the Toy Box?
Pretty much anything… No, seriously, you’re really not gonna believe this! The Toy Box is where your creativity is unleashed. Here you can mix and match any of the characters you have and play any way you want to.
Build your own worlds, create cool games and add vehicles, environments and gadgets you’ve collected. You’re only limited by your own imagination, and your friends can come along for the ride!
Disney Infinity is available on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii and 3DS from August 22. Rated PG. Check Starter Pack for version features.
